Welcome to SYCs Fall Program! Were excited you are here! Please sign up for which
enrichment classes you would like to do!
ELS Zone is offered Monday-Thursday from 2:30-3:30pm. We fully encourage students to
participate each afternoon and work closely with 8 experienced staff members.
MONDAYS
___ ELS Zone: Extended Learning Skills study time

____ Yahoo for Yoga: Start the week off right with some deep breathing exercises and then
mold your body into a downward dog, a camel, pigeon and even a cat and cow!

___ Carve it out: We will review the basic safety and design methods of carving wood. We
will use carving tools and sandpaper to create our very own masterpieces. All materials will be
supplied, you just need to bring your determination, patience, strength, creativity and willingness
to work on a project for multiple weeks before you get your results. Do you have the
perseverance to carve your own spoon? Do you want to create a gift to give someone this
holiday season? Come carve it out with us!

___ Too many chefs in the kitchen (Nutrition Connections from UNH Cooperative
Extension): Do you like to cook? Do you like to eat what you cook? Do you like learning how
to make new recipes and learn your way around a kitchen? Join Too Many Chefs and you will be
running your own kitchen in no time!

____SMS Big Buddy Mentor Program: Do have a passion for working with younger students?
In this group, we will travel to Idlehurst Elementary School to be a Big Buddy Mentor for a
younger student over there. At Idlehurst, you are a positive role model and mentor with students

as well as participate in enrichment activities with your student.

____ Mindfulness: Mindfulness is paying attention to whats happening right now--to our
thoughts, feelings, and whats going on inside and outside of us. Being mindful can help us to
stress less, complete school work, be kind, and be our best at whatever we do. In this club, we
will practice being mindful in different ways--like breathing, listening, seeing and eating. We
will also do some mindful art and movement (like Yoga or a nice walk), and try to practice on
our own on days that the club doesnt meet. So come learn and have fun with Mindful Me &
You!

___Wicked Cool Fan Club: Ok Sports Fans! This club will test your knowledge of the Patriots,
The Red Sox, The Bruins, and so much more! Come learn about players, stats, and upcoming
games!

___ Can you dig it?: Students will travel to Bartlett Ave where we have been asked to manage
the garden project on those grounds called Plant For Growth. Raised beds gardens and planting
areas are in need of care to get them ready for the long winter months. We will work with
community members to prepare the beds for winter and get them ready for the growing season
next year. We hope to connect kitchen and classroom by hosting cooking classes with crops that
we will be growing and harvesting. Participate in active citizenship, get your hands dirty and eat
some delicious foods, come join us in the garden... if you can dig it.

____ Babysitting Certification: Students will be trained in first aid, indoor and outdoor safety,
and how to handle household emergencies. After this course, you will be a certified baby sitter
and will be able to promote yourself within the community!

___ Community Connection: *Be the change you wish to see in the world* - Ghandi Make a
difference in your community. Student lead community projects may include the Thanksgiving
Food Drive, the Holiday Tea, and Mugs for Veterans and others to follow

__ Let Your Inner Artist Out at the Gathering Place!: In this enrichment, we will be walking
downtown to create a masterpiece of your own doing each week! You will be the expert in this

creative club, and as a group, we will collectively decide what project we will be doing!

___ Tough Topper: In this enrichment, work on strengthening your mind and body! Together we
will tackle challenges, strength training exercises and new work out strategies to help you
become a tough topper! This is a traveling enrichment and we will go to various venues
throughout the community.

___ Advisory Club: Here is the opportunity to have a voice in how to start the day. Come have
a voice in planning activities for our advisory program. You may want to even test drive some of
the activities. If there is time we will even start to plan what to put on the school web site.

___STEAMing up the Ipads: Bring the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and
Math to life by finding the newest apps, playing the latest games and explore STEAM in a whole
new way!

___ Chess Club/Board Game Challenge: This club provides friendly but competitive games,
while learning new strategies to beat your opponent! This enrichment will rotate each week
between chess and other board games.

___ Pink Ladies: In this self-empowerment group, girls will learn to empower themselves, and
each other. Girls will learn how to express themselves, and strengthen their creativity, courage

FRIDAYS___ Intramurals: This open gym enrichment will walk to the Flanagan Center every other week
to play various game and sports
____ Karaoke: Sing your hearts out to the latest songs and some oldies!
____ Friday Cool Down: Come play board games, the Wii, hang out with friends and unwind
after the week!
