HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT #1
Due Thursday, February 5
(at the beginning of class)
Problems identified by numbers such as 1.8 are from Pozars Microwave Engineering, 4th
Edition, 2012. Those followed by a (M), such as 1.8 (M), have been modified from the
original problems in the text, as explained in the assignment below. Make sure to follow the
changes as given.
1. 1.8 (M) Change the copper sheet to brass, and instead of 1 GHz, solve for f = 300 MHz,
3.0 GHz and 30 GHz. In (b), change the level of reduction to 200 dB.
2. 1.9 (M) Change parameters to r = 9.8, tan = 0.15, and f = 6.0 GHz. Change the incident
electric field to 200 V/m rms. Make sure to take into account that it is rms instead of peak
value.
3. 1.18
4. 2.12 (M) Let ZL = 100 + j100 and the SWR = 3.093. Assume that Z0 is real-valued.
