This week in FLK..

Miss Angenent and I wish you all a very

HappyThanksgiving!

**** Were doing well with the egg cartons!

Suggestion: Eat EGGS for Thanksgiving!
(We have 30 so far!)

Thank you for your continued Food Bank Donations!

Thank you to those who have signed up for REMIND! In efforts to
GO GREEN, I will use this app in lieu of photocopied reminders. If
you need the instructions again, please send a note in the mailbag.
In Language: We continued with our Jolly Phonics and learned the letter names and
sounds of Cc and Kk. The First Years continued in their Jolly Phonics booklets while
the Second Years added labels and/or sentences to their super heroes.
We continued to practice: the understanding, hearing and identifying of beginning
sounds and the Mystery Name activity.
We practiced rhyming identifying and matching animals and food, ex. puffins eat
muffins!

We also continued our Surprise Bag Show n Share. Alvina shared her microphone
and Molly shared her monkey. Thank you ladies!
We began work on printing our name. There is large variability within the classroom
for this skill. Some of us will practice our names and some of us will practice sight
words during our morning bellwork beginning next week. We began to work on pencil
grip and scissor grip. These may be useful at home:

Instead of making an L,
remind your child to make a
squirt gun and instead of
squeezing the pencil, remind
your child to pinch it.

Gym: We played Thanksgiving related games.

Religion: We continued to enjoy traces of God in the beautiful weather. We saw
the wisdom of God in the slow change of season on our nature walk. We discussed
again the fact that sad things happen, like Andrews great grandfather passing
away, but that God gives us the gift of memories. We celebrated Thanksgiving as a
class community. Thank you for your support in sending in the necessary snacks.
They were soooooooo well received!
Science: We saw many signs of Fall on our nature walk..leaves changing and falling,
milkweed opening, geese, walnuts in various stages of being opened by squirrels,
pinecones falling, etc. Several items sparked further discussion back in the
class.like how the wind moves seeds. Milkweed was the PERFECT example of
this..blowing it was FUN (and funny!) The river and the animals along the river
were the highlight of our walk! On our return to class, Miss Angenent discussed the
river with the children, read books with them and finally had them build one in the
water table! We also learned about REAL turkeys.
In Art: Miss Angenent finished up the rainbows with the children and then made a
turkey keepsake with each child for Thanksgiving.

In Music, Drama and Dance: Miss Angenent continues with Musical Lunches and
dance parties. The Piano Guys continue to be popular!
In Mathematics: We continued the 100 days of school.adding fish to our
fishbowl and straws to our collection. We counted by 1,2,5, and 10. We began
sorting and using sorting rules. We even sorted animals according to their habitat
of: farm, RIVER and forest!
In Personal and Social Development: We discussed worrying about ourselves and
not so much about what others are doing. We are also discussing using our words
and keeping our hands off!
In Inquiry/Directed Play: Miss Angenent worked with the children to create a
river in the water table. A Siamese Fighting fish, named Sheldon, came to visit the
class to see if our river was suitable to live in. The river sparked questions and
discussions about the difference between oceans and rivers..so next week we will
investigate further! We also celebrated Thanksgiving. We played Where oh
Where did the little turkey go?, Pin the Waddle on the Turkey and Stuff the
Turkey!
