For Immediate Release Monday March 15, 2010

On Monday March 15th, at about 1555 hrs, Bakersfield Police Officers responded
to a report of a victim of a gunshot at 416 Bill Street. Upon arrival officers
contacted the victim, identified as Abbie Bernardez, a black female 20 years old.
Bernardez suffered a gunshot wound to her back, and was lying along the south
curb line of the 400 block of Bill St. She was transported to Kern Medical Center
and it appears the wound is not life threatening.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

Various leads are being investigated. At the time of the call the suspect was
described as a:

Black male wearing a black hoodie.
