Water is flowing through a pipe having diameters 300mm

& 200mm at the bottom & upper end .The intensity of
pressure at the bottom is 24.55N/cm2 & the pressure at
upper end is 9.81N/cm2 .Find the difference in datum head
if rate of flow through the pipe is 40 lit/s.
A conical tube of length 2m is fixed vertically with its
smaller end upwards. The velocity of flow at the smaller
end is 5m/s while at lower end it is 2m/s. The pressure
head at the smaller end is 2.5m of liquid. The loss of head
in the tube is 0.35(V 1-V2)2/2g.Find pressure head at the
lower end.

Derive the relation for actual discharge through a venturi

meter
The frictional torque T of a disc of diameter D rotating at
a speed N in a fluid of viscosity and density is given
by T=D5N2 [/D2N ].prove this by the Buckinghams
theorem

A venturi meter of 150 mm 75 mm size is used to

measure the flow rate of oil having specific gravity of 0.9.
The reading shown by the U tube manometer connected
to the venturi meter is 150 mm of mercury column.
Calculate the coefficient of discharge for the venturi
meter if the flow rate is 1.7 m3/min.
The pressure drop P per unit length in flow through a
smooth circular pipe is found to depend on (i) the flow
velocity, u (ii) diameter of the pipe, D (iii) density of the
fluid , and (iv) the dynamic viscosity .
Using theorem method, evaluate the dimensionless
parameters for the flow.
