Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco named Education Ambassador of the Academy of

American Poets
The Academy of American Poets, the nations largest member-supported charitable
organization championing poets and poetry, has named Richard Blanco its first
Education Ambassador.

An honorary position, the Education Ambassador recognizes an esteemed poets

dedication to poetry being taught in the schools and to inspiring teachers. In this
role Mr. Blanco will work with the Academy of American Poets to champion the
organization and its programs and resources to the educational community. He will
also participate in meetings with teachers and education leaders, contribute to
Poets.org, and advise on ways to further develop the organizations education
initiatives
