WHAT IS FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT?

An active and intentional learning
process that partners the teacher and the
students to continuously and systematically
gather evidence of learning with the
express goal of improving student
achievement (Moss & Brookhart, 2009, pg.
6).

PUT YOURSELF IN THE STUDENTS SEAT

What are you supposed to be able to do at the end
of the lesson?
What must you learn to be able to do it?
How will you be asked to show what you can do?
How well will you have to do it?
How confident are you that you can?

THE LEARNING TARGET REVIEW

The most effective teaching and the most
meaningful student learning happen when
teachers design the right learning target for
todays lesson and use it along with their
students to aim for and assess understanding
(Moss & Brookhart, 2012, pg.9).

FIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF
LEARNING TARGETS
1. What student will learn
2. Student language
3. Point of view of the student
4. Connected to performance
5. Look- fors

LESSON PLAN INTEGRATION

So far we have used web 2.0 tools to create formative
assessments. Now I want to integrate one of these tools into
a lesson.
Using the Norwin School District formative assessment lesson
plan, create a lesson that integrates one of the tools we
learned today.
