Scenario:

Sight and Sound magazine have asked you to write an article for their digital magazine discussing
why a director of your choice should be considered an auteur.

Hand in Date: 23/11/2015

Task Outline
In this article you will need to discuss why a director should
be considered an auteur.
The article will need to explain what the term auteur means
and where it originated from.
You will also need to justify all ideas and points made about
your chosen director using a close critical analysis of their
films to illustrate each point. You may also want to discuss how
different approaches may affect films (eg genre analysis, content
analysis, narrative analysis, structuralism, semiotics, auteur
theory, feminism, queer theory, Marxism, psychoanalytic).
As Sight and Sound magazine is a high end magazine subject
terminology must be understood and used correctly and
confidently at all times.
Due to the article being featured in the digital version of the

magazine you may embed videos, images and include


hyperlinks in your assignment.
You will need to submit two versions of your assignment.

One version just containing words and images on


eStudy.
One version will be uploaded on Weebly and may
feature active hyperlinks and embedded videos used to
demonstrate points.

All referencing and quotations must be formatted and correct.
