Bibliographic Information: Maurice Sendak became well known for Where the Wild Things Are. He is
also the illustrator for Little Bear. The genre he works on are childrens literature books.
Plot: Max wears a wolf costume and causes trouble, is sent to his room without supper. Being aggravated,
his bedroom turns into a jungle where the wild things live. Max is named the king of the Wild Things by
the creatures. When Max returns home, he is greeted by a hot supper waiting for him.
Setting: Maxs bedroom/ jungle transformation.
Theme: The theme is monsters, creativity and imagination.
Characterization: Max- a little boy who wreaks havoc in his wolf costume. The wild things- originally
seen as monsters but get frighten of Max after he shows him magic trick.
Style: This book is bedtime stories.
Point of View: Told through the eyes of Max.

the Wild Things Are is a classic tale that has been around for a long time. I always enjoyed this book as a
child and would recommend it for teachers to their students in around fourth grade. I would also try to
incorporate the move so we can point out similarities and differences.

Sachar. He is know for many series including Pig City in the United Kingdom. Holes had won the
National Book Award for Young people's Literature in 1998. Along with a Newbery Medal.
Plot: Stanley Yelnats is a very unlucky boy along with his family from a mysterious curse put on the
family name years ago. Stanley is tucked away in an unconventional juvenile detention center in the
middle of the desert. Stanley batteles many challenges through his time in the camp and ends up trying to
find the cure to the family curse.

Plot: IN a magical Kingdom, there is a 12 year old boy names RUMP who is the root of all jokes. He
begins to find his gift of spinning straw into gold. Warned by Little Red Riding Hood that magic is
dangerous, he soon discovers his true potential.
