Topic Introduction
Aim/Purpose
Gain understanding of mental health via perceptions, reasons of occurrence,
and positive strategies of dealing with the problem

Syllabus

Brief Overview

World Health Organizations defines

mental health as:


A state of complete physical, mental, & social
wellbeing allowing us to carry out everyday
productive activities (Who.int, 2014).

Essential role in everyday living via

coping with different situations

Impacts in everyday life via school, work, &

relationships

(Headspace, 2014)

Mental health problems can disappear over

time, but when they last for long periods of


time & create negative change in our lives
they become a MENTAL ILLNESS (Headspace, 2014)

Play for 20-25 mins (Helps ensure class understanding)
Involves 5 rounds
Today only doing 1st 2 rounds
Provide feedback for wrong answers for understanding what they did wrong & to

learn correctly about the topic


Provide encouragement when answering questions as students are still only in

year 9 10.
Be lenient with responses


First Round - Normal questions

Questions asked, choose to answer questions/pass

10 points for correct answers, -10 for wrong


Also if you get it wrong moves on to next team

Round two - Speed round

First team to buzz in answers (teams create own

buzzers)

No loss of points for incorrect answers

15 point answers

Round three - Brainstorm round

Teams have 1 min to come up with 3 of the top 10


mental illnesses ten points per correct answers

Round four - Charades


All team members bar 1 comes out & attempts to act out

one of the top 10 mental disorders


1 min to come up with the correct answer otherwise -10
points however 20 points for correct answer
Team with the lowest points going into the round goes 1 st &
they work their way up from the lowest points

Round five - True/false


Each team is received one question in which they have 10
seconds to answer
10 points for correct response
If no response after 10 seconds then -20 points
Only goes for 2 mins & then team left answering question
when timer finishes -20 points
