1. On Target
In teams, 1 student from each team takes a hoop and holds it from the side
so that a ball can pass through it. Another student stands behind the hoop
at a safe distance as the 'back stop', who passes the ball to the person at
the start of the line. The remanding members line up in a line with the
football. Each student passes the ball through the hoop focusing on aim
and accuracy when passing. Once each team member has passed through
the hoop, the hoop holder becomes the backstop, the leader is the hoop
holder and the backstop joins the end of the line. Once all members have
completed each roll once and are back to their starting positions, the team
sits down.
Encourage students that it IS NOT a completion but a drill to practice skills.
2. Tail Tag
Students are in 2 teams of different tag colours. Students as in a squared
area using witches hats. The aim of the game is in a given time period to
tag as many people from the opposite team as you can. Once a student
tags another they stick their tag to their belt. At the end of the game, the
team that has the most of the other teams tags wins.

Activities
1 .Tag and drop
Students line up in 2 parallel lines approximately 10-15 meters apart.
Students are wearing a tag belt with a tag on each side. On a whistle
students will run up to their opposite opponent and using both hands in a
downwards pulling motion, they will pull both tags down, drop them and run
backwards to their line. The team just tagged picks up their tags, puts them
back on and runs to the team who just tagged them on a whistle and tags
them the same way. This is a repeated exercise to practice tagging. The
focus is on dropping the tag where you tag the player, going for 2 tags and
not just 1 and practice the skill of running backwards.
2. Dodging
Students line up in 4 lines. The leader of each line holds a football and
dodges from one cone to another in a section on placed out cones.
Teacher observers and provides assistance and more demonstration
where needed.
3. Oztag Game
Students take the field in teams of 8 to play a 3 minute game of Oztag.
Once the 3 minutes is up, players from their team on the sideline switch
over. This continues throughout the whole team until has had at least 2
turns on the field. Points scored are collective.

-Rules of OztagNEED TO KNOW

Maximum of 8 players on the field at any one time.
All players must have shirts tucked in at all times
All players wear a tag belt a hip level with the 2 tags velcroed on. These tags
MUST be positioned on the side of the player, parallel with the side of their legs.
A defender must remove one or both tags to tag an attacking player. He/She then holds up the tag and drops it to the
ground marking where the play the ball occurs.
This person who made the tag becomes the marker and stands in front on the player playing the ball.
The rest of the defence must be back 7 metres.
The defensive line can move forward only when dummy half touches the ball. Dummy half CAN run and be tagged with the
ball.
Six tags/plays to then it is a hand over to the other team.
The ball carrier is not allowed to protect his tag or fend off defenders using their arms or hands. They can swivel their
hips and dodge their defender.
LETS GET TECHNICAL
An attacker must stop and play the ball if he/she has the ball with only one tag on.
The game is NON-CONTACT. The attacker cannot deliberately bump into defender. A defender cannot change direction
and move into attackers path. Whoever initiates contact will be penalised.
If the ball is kicked or passed into the referee, the referee will order a changeover where they were struck.

SCORING

A try is awarded to the attacking team when they ground the ball on or over the try line.

KICKING
A team may kick the ball before the initial tag is made. (eg: a team picks up the ball in general play from a kickoff) Once a
tag has been made, the ball may not be kicked again till after the fourth tag.
Kicks in general play cannot be above the shoulder height of the referee.
Kick offs and line drop outs. If the ball lands in the field of play and then rolls across the try line whether touched or not a
line drop out occurs. Try line becomes the dead ball line for all kicks.
MISCONDUCT
Unsportsmanlike conduct covers the behaviour and attitude of players on the field and may result in penalty, sin bin or
dismissal.
Oztag is a non contact version of rugby league.
