Dear Mr. Attorney General,
Mary Fischer has contacted my office regarding a matter with which you might be able to
provide assistance. Ms. Fischer, a councilwoman in Farmington, is concerned on behalf of our
constituents about the poor conditions at the Apple Ridge Apartments, a concern that I share. As
a result of Ms, Fischer's efforts to bring this matter to my attention, my office has communicated
these issues to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Since that time,
there have been much-needed improvements made at the facility. However the recent death of
resident ~ as reported in the Farmington Daily Times — crime, dilapidated and declining
facilities, and accusations of mismanagement continue to raise serious concerns, The concems
about mismanagement are of a severity that many wishing to lodge complaints were only willing
to do so under the condition of anonymity.
Enclosed are copies of my correspondence with HUD and information my office has been
provided by our constituent. Your prompt consideration would be greatly appreciated as Ms,
Fischer and our constituents are eager to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (202) 225-6190.
