MAIN BODY
Guiding Inquiry and Practise

Warm up game:
Rob the nest
- 4 teams each corner of the gym, 1 hoop in each corner
- 1 hoop in the centre of the gym
- Balls or bean bags in the middle
- 1 student at a time can leave from their group and take a ball/bean
bag from the middle hoop
- The team with the most wins
- For the second game, students can rob from each other. Only 1 can
leave at a time and they can only take 1 beanbag at a time
- Cheating wont be tolerated and groups will be penalised
(10 mins)
Square passing
- Revisiting the passing and trapping from last week
- Pass in a square, 1 ball between 4
* Use the inside of your foot to pass
* Trap/control the ball before passing
(5 mins)
Keepings off
- Using those same groups of 4
- Square or circle made up of 4 students, with 1 in the middle trying to
intercept the ball as the others attempt to pass amongst each other
- Each student has a turn in the middle
* Aim to control the ball before you pass
* Use communication to avoid turning the ball over
(5 mins)
Kick baseball
- Set up cones to act as bases
- Students come out and kick, as the pitcher bowls it to them
- Must run around the bases and attempt to make it home, the kicker or
runner is out if someone catches the ball on their base
- Each team fields and kicks, the team with the most runs is the winner
- Soccer rules apply: only the pitcher can use their hands, everyone
else must pass and dribble the ball back to the pitcher
*Dribbling and passing within the activity
* Cant use hands

Observe students abilities throughout the lesson, determine whether or not they
are competent with completing each skill
Students will be able to test their combined skills in the modified game of soccer
Discuss the skills learned at the end of the lesson

(15 mins)
Shooting practice
- Split students into 4 even groups
- Take turns at shooting at goal
- Have as many shots as possible
*Use inside of the foot to curl or use a power shot
(10 mins)
Penalties
- Re introduce the goalkeeper
- They are to stand in the goals and attempt to save the ball from going
into the back of the net
- Shots must take place from at least 10 metres out to prevent injury to
the keeper. If anyone comes closer, they are to sit out from the activity
and no longer participate
* Aim to shoot the ball away from the keeper (corners)

Number soccer
- 2 teams set up on each side of the court
- Each student has a number and they are lined up in order
- Teacher puts the ball into play and calls out numbers that will play
against each other
- Game will continue until someone scores
(15 mins)
Modified game
- Students split up into 3 even teams (approximately 7 per team)
- Indoor soccer rules (cant tackle from behind, no outs)
- Teams swap over when a goal is scored
- Teacher refs
