In such buildings, shear walls may be constructed between column lines or maybe incorporated into stair walls, lifi, elevator ete. Design Example: ‘Question: A 15-story RCC rigid frame building is subjected to wind forces as shown above figure (a). The ~ dimension of shear wall is 150' long and 10" thick. Design reinforcement for,the wall at the ground floor. Use fy = 60000 psi and fe' = 3000 psi. Consider story height 10', Solution: 1) Approximate load calculation: Let us at first calculate the load shared by the shear walls.
