Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele beginning on the L2 vertebrae


Callie was rushed into surgery to complete back closure that day.

She also had to have catheters placed frequently to ensure that


her bladder could empty completely and avoid bladder or kidney
damage.

She then had surgery to place the shunt to drain fluid off her
brain on Day 8 in the NICU.

A home health nurse was assigned to visit the family for the
first little while to help them transition home.

The Jalil familyworships weekly on Friday's at the Islamic House of
Wisdomin Dearborn each week and have support from the people they
meet there.
They call their worship on Friday "The Day of Assembly (congregational
prayers)"
Theirreligion gives them renewal and emotional support. They have met
friends in theirMuslim community which the heart of it is where they
worship.
The Islamic House of Wisdom also provides functions to bring people
together and keep them active within the community.

Aquatic therapy has been shown to provide relief of symptoms from a variety of
arthritides, traumatic injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
Aquatic therapy may necessary for a loss or restriction of joint motion, strength,
mobility, or function which has resulted from a specific disease or injury. The
medical record should show objective loss of joint motion, strength, or mobility
(e.g., degrees of motion, strength grades, levels of assistance).
They will be doing this by having an training for the child to do at home to help
her gain movement better in her body.
This should be done 3-4 time a week which includes the hour of training each
week (at their structure).
