Greetings from Guidance, It is hard to believe that we are in the second quarter of the school year already! CONGRATULATIONS to students, parents, faculty and staff for Forestbrook Middle School, a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School! What a great accomplishment, that couldn’t have been achieved without our awesome students, actively involved parents and dedicated faculty and staff. Students at FMS have already participated in so much this 15-16 school year, such as MAP testing, BLUE” out bullying day, PSAT testing, See You at the Pole FCA, and so much more! We are excited about the 2 nd Quarter of the 15-16 school year and hope you and your students will become involved and stay up to date on the many activities here at FMS, please contact us for any questions or concerns. -FMS Guidance Department

Individual Graduation Plan Meetings
Starting September 14, 2015 thru February 28, 2016, Guidance will
begin Individual Graduation Plan meetings with 8 th graders and
their parents. IGP meetings are mandated by the EEDA and are a
team effort between school professionals, parents and students
(grades 8-12). IGP meetings give us the opportunity to work
together to help our students create educational plans and begin
to establish career goals.
At this meeting, we will discuss
college/career goals, secondary program opportunities, and class
registration for high school. Parents will be contacted about their
child’s meeting time by letter and via email. Parents may also call
the 8 th grade guidance counselor, Ms. Mitchell,
kmitchell@horrycountyschools.net, to schedule an appointment.

At Report Cards, if students have a 76 (D) or below in any class, the student will meet with their grade level Assistant Principle for a conference. At Interims the student will meet with their grade level Counselor. This is to determine where the student is struggling and in what areas the student can improve.

At Forestbrook Middle we are fortunate enough to have over 100 business partners that support our school and students. If any parent is interested in having their business support FMS please contact Mrs. Gerrald

Christmas is fast approaching…each year the Guidance Department organizes the Angel Tree program here at FMS. Starting in November 9 through December, we will be having friendly competitions between the grade level Home Room’s to raise money for students that are less fortunate at Forestbrook. If you would like to donate money, time, and/or new items to be given to well-deserved students that may not otherwise have a Christmas, please see a member of the Guidance Department.
