Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration
Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: Students would be required
to write a narrative about a story of something important that happened to them.
Ther will be required to write a rough draft and edit in a final draft. The teacher
will write a list of elements that must be included in this narrative according to
what has been learned that year and in previous years. The students will post this
in to Kidspub and be required to comment on at least on other persons narrative.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed
learning activity in a classroom? A working computer with internet access.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their
classroom and often beyond their school: Students will be
posting their writing on a forum that other students can read, as well
as responding to students from other classrooms.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting
original data and or producing original products as a result of
engaging in the project): Students will personally gather data and
write their own narrative.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will create their own work using
personal experience.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will
use/care about their product: Students will create personal work
and publish on a public site (Kidpub).
