Obama, Barack The Fiftieth Anniversary of the March on Washington. Lincoln Memorial.

In the Fiftieth Anniversary of the March on Washington Speech, Barack Obama
addresses the King Family and fellow Americans. Obama points out that in 1963, 50
years ago previous to his 2013 speech Americans came to the Lincoln Memorial to rally
for their claim of our Constitution of the United States of AmericaWe hold these
truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and that they are endowed by their
creator to certain unalienable rights, that among those are life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness.
African-Americans and Americans alike from all over the United States to rally for
this freedom, people from all walks of life. Dr. Kings I Have a Dream Speech, offered a
promise of a better tomorrow through unification of the people. People who had been
oppressed in various ways, limiting them in their pursuit of happiness. They stood up for
themselves using non-violence.
Because of their perseverance America changed by passing a Civil Rights Law, and a
Voting Rights Law. Everyone from the City Councils to the White House changed and the
March and perseverance did not stop there, it created a more even playing field for

women, Jews, Muslims and gay people to name a few ad it brought fairness throughout
diversified groups and unity.
Obama points out that Americans must acknowledge the importance of this change
and the people who fought and died for this change. It does not behoove us to take it for
granted. When the United States as a country recognizes injustice we must persevere and
stand up as those who did in 1963, to insure equality for everyone. Especially equality in
economic opportunity. While there has been success the economic divide has grown in
respect to the wealthy and minorities.
Corporate profits continue to soar in the midst of our recession and economic
opportunities have stagnated for working Americans, where all hardworking Americans
deserve to be joined to the middle class. Technology and Global competition has made it
harder for working class Americans to advance giving them less bargaining power in the
working field. Barack asserts the some of us have focused on important things but reacted
the wrong way and also letting other people and financial circumstances define us.
As long as the American people work together and have empathy for one another, the
American people must find the courage to persevere and change. By uniting as people we
can affect the changes we need to see, by picking each other up and offering a helping
hand, fellow Americans are to stand up for what this County is founded upon.
