We used this when we answered questions for the Monkeys Paw.

I think I am definitely able to do it but rarely I may struggle
finding the text evidence.

I can practice it more.

We used this standard when we watched the TedEd video and had
to figure out the meaning of the video that we watched.

I think that I can do this standard because I have been practicing
it for a while and I passed on the Study Island test.
What can you do to continue making progress for this standard?
I can read more passages and try to write down what I think the
theme is.

Standard 2:

or drama propel the action, reveal aspects of a character, or provoke a
decision.

How did we use this standard this year? (please write in full
sentences)
In the story Helping Hands we had to figure out how the
characters revealed the aspects of character .

Why did you rank yourself where you did?
I was able to figure out how the characters revealed parts of the
story and it is not a challenge for me to do so.
What can you do to continue making progress for this standard?
I can try to think about the characters more when I am reading.

Standard 3:
L.8.5 Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word
relationships, and nuances in word meanings. Interpret figures of
speech (e.g. verbal irony, puns) in context.

How did we use this standard this year? (please write in full
sentences)
We watched videos on Ted Ed and then applied it by
demonstrating a skit to the class and guessing what type of irony
it was.
