About This Essay

I have included my Essay 2 in this section. In this assignment, our class was to find a
site/building in Detroit, and through research, evaluate whether or not it is representative of the
city. I included this work because I feel that I learned a lot from this assignment, and it
demonstrates my ability to write strong arguments using research. This was my first real
exposure to the city of Detroit in this course, in terms of recognizing a problem and finding
solutions to it. It was a good way to apply concepts in that we learned in class to the real world,
and this work exhibits how I did that. It also introduced me into a new way of systematic,
logical, and concise problem solving. For this assignment, I had to research multiple angles and
views of the same problem in order to find an effective solution. That way of thinking is
something that I will be taking with me and apply to any problem that I will face in the future,
which is why I included this piece.
