Connecting a battery charger to demonstration vehicles

Please note: A battery charger with a minimum charge current of 30 A must always
be connected.

Reasons for discharged batteries

Bus wakeup activated by onboard supply control unit
Vehicles affected:
Audi A6, Q7 with electrically adjustable steering column, and memory
Cause:
Adjustment travel of the electric steering column is restricted by mechanical strain
Customer service action:

Provide notification about obligation to report (from model year 2009)

Send data to wakeup monitor

Install modified onboard supply control unit (software version 0370 or higher, genuine parts no.: 4F0
910 279 AE, AF, AG, AH)

Series production action:

Modify onboard supply control unit software (software 0390)

Reasons for discharged batteries

Bus interrupter or no-load current activated by control unit 1 for information electronics
Vehicles affected:

Audi A4, A5, A6, Q5, Q7 with MMI 3G

Cause:

Software and/or hardware are not in line with specifications

Customer service action:

Send data to wakeup monitor

Update software (release K0031), or replace control unit 1 for information electronics if the hardware is
faulty

Series production action:

Modify software/hardware for control unit 1 for information electronics. From 06/2010

Reasons for discharged batteries

Vehicle is switched off and terminal 15 is on
Vehicles affected:

Audi A8, A7 with start/stop automatic system

Cause:

When the engine is switched off via the start/stop automatic system, the ignition is not switched off

Customer service action:

Ask customer how the vehicle was switched off

Do not carry out any repairs

Notify the customer

Series production action:

Modified software planned for Week 04/2011
