Q17: Please provide comments in regards to the student teacher's strengths and areas for improvement.
The Student Teacher did a fine job preparing and planning for this lesson. The classroom was organized and all
materials were readily available. Students knew the expectations and routines and did a fine job working in small
groups and independently. The student teacher and her cooperating teacher worked very well in concert with each
other. The teacher gave clear instructions on how to use the table chart method and the students were able to clearly
articulate what they were doing and why. The students did as much talking as the teacher and the teacher allowed for
student dialogue throughout the lesson. The students like you, never take that for granted. Students don't learn from
teachers they don't like. The struggling student got an extra problem to complete. The student who was a little more
advanced got some tougher problems to do.
Pick up the pace a little bit. Limit the down time during the small group instruction.
Refer to the learning target and have students tell you why they are doing what they are doing.
Be confident. Take the intiative. It is your class. Assertive might seem like too harsh a word, a better word to describe
what you will need more of at the next placement is confidence.
You are organized and prepared. You have good knowledge. You like what you do. You are positive. You did a very
fine job today. You will be a great teacher.
