How is it effective Facebook in high schools? Or Could any education activity be


arranged on Facebook?
1. LITERATURE REVIEW:
What does the literature/research say about this issue/topic? By using NAU
Library or Online Search engines, conduct a literature review.

You need to include 5 different sources (book, journal article, web article
etc.) in your review. Try to use current sources as much as possible.

I got my literature review such as
Facebook can and should have a wider role in higher education to facilitate such a
community of learning beyond national boundaries. Students want to learn using the
technology with which they have grown up, not by sitting passively in lectures where
social interaction is often non-existent.( Valerie Anne Dickie - Dr. Helena Meier)
Results demonstrate that adolescents who converse less with friends for social
purposes on Facebook may contribute to their academic performance, owing to their
effective time-management skills. Based on a comparison with the results of the
literature, we conclude that use of Facebook can increase the quality of interpersonal
interactions for learning among adolescents, ultimately improving their academic

It was observed that following the incorporation of the Facebook activity many of the
more introverted students became more motivated in English Language class and were
actually talking more with their classmates. It was also noticed that students began to
express more opinions and give extended reasoning in not only their face-to-face
interactions but also in their written classwork. While it is impossible to say that social
networking was the reason for these differences, it can be said that it possibly played a
role and these types of activities do show promise as they appear to give students choices
and opportunities to have control over their own learning These kinds of opportunities
and environments may create conditions for facilitating the development of learner

Many schools use their strong academic results as a key to their recruiting efforts.
Facebook provides a great opportunity for a school to share their aggregated academic
data with the world. Not only is it available to those interested in potentially becoming a
part of the community, but is also accessible to students and families that are already in
the school. These results are easy for students, teachers, and proud family members to
Like and share with people in their Facebook network.( David Hartstein - 2011)
Social media in two distinct ways: (1) As a communication tool between the district
and parents. We are a small district, but over one-third of our families like our Facebook
page. This gives us a great tool to communicate pretty quickly with a good portion of our
parents. (2) For classroom usea teacher who taught a distance-ed class for our school
and three others set up a Facebook page to foster communication between the remote

Reflection:

In my opinion Facebook is one of the best communication ways in our century. The
Facebook is given big opportunity to build a bridge between students/parents and
schools. They can easily share their academics data with the world. Using Facebook is
also increasing students` interpersonal interactions for their academic achievement.
After my researching about Facebook, I want to use it more effectively in my school life.
I will show useful Facebook users in my language class. I will also ask to my language
skilled students to follow the language Olympiads at Facebook. So they can get informed
about new innovations.
