ESCP Fieldwork Observation

Candidate: Amanda Case

Observation

Date/Time:9/22/15
Setting:SDC

School/District: Enders/GGUSD

Master Teacher: Joyce Barrosa

Supervisor: Farrier

Todays Visit :
Todays observation took place during math class. Shortly after I arrived, students
came in and a small group was collecting materials to take to the general
education math class since they are being mainstreamed for this subject. The
remainder of the class took their seats and did number sprints which was timed
addition practice. Ms. Barrosa was leading the class at this time, so Amanda
walked around the room ensuring that every student stayed on task. Following
the number sprints, Ms. Barrosa and Amanda presented a lesson on working with
rational numbers on a number line.
Students were working with white boards drawing their own number lines and
figuring out how to divide up a number line with fractions between 0 and -1,
placing negative fractions appropriately on their number lines.
Amanda has a strong sense of presence in the classroom, and students seem to
respond well to her assistance and are respectful of the rules in place. At one
point there was a student who was drawing on the white board when he was
supposed to be opening his math notebook. Amanda quietly approached him
while Ms. Barrosa was teaching, and she took the whiteboard away without
causing a scene.

To Do :
Amanda has been working on getting her planning and instructional materials in
place and organized, and will continue to do so.

NEXT MEETING : September 29, 2015
