Poverty is general scarcity, death, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of

material possessions of money. Poverty includes economic, social and political

elements. In pure economic terms, income poverty is when a family's income fails
to meet a federally established threshold that differs across countries. It is typically
measured with respect to families and not the individual, and is adjusted for the
number of persons in a family. Socially speaking, people are living in poverty if their
income and resources (material, cultural and social) are so inadequate as to
preclude them from having a standard of living which is regarded as acceptable by
Irish society generally. As a result of inadequate income and resources people may
be excluded and marginalized from participating in activities which are considered
the norm for other people in society. On the other hand, based on the political
aspect, economy is determined by how much every family is able to spend and how
much the government will be able to help each poor person.
