Euthanasia
Euthanasia can either help a suffering patients pain, or ease a suffering persons pain.
Euthanasia eases a patients pain. The word euthanasia comes from a Greek term meaning good
death. Euthanasia not only puts an end to the patients suffering, but also gives the family and
friends closure. Euthanasia decreases the amount of patients in a hospital, because hospitals are
overcrowded with not enough doctors. No person should have to go through any type of
suffering. There are diseases that medicine will not take away the pain. There should be no need
for anyone to suffer.
First, Euthanasia can put an end to a patients pain and suffering. Euthanasia is giving
terminally ill patients lethal drugs to help ease the pain and kill them without having to worry.
There are many different diseases that are painful, and the patient would never have to go
through the pain. If the patient is in pain, why not help them instead of hurt them. It should be
the patients choice whether they want to go through with the death or not(Messerli 2). The
patient will give themselves the injection of euthanasia. Its not harmful to anyone. It should not
matter to anyone if the patient is the one suffering(Exit International 1). Doctors cannot make
patients continue treatments if the patient is unwilling. Any one persons have a right to free
will(Skene 2). Euthanasia is no pain, and easy to go through the process(What is Euthanasia 1).
Second, Euthanasia gives the families closure. Friends and families pain would disappear
from seeing how much pain the patient is suffering from. Friends and family members would not
have to worry night and day if their loved one was going to live or not. Family members and

Courtright 2
friends get stressed from just knowing that there is a loved one in the hospital. They would not
have to sit and wait, knowing there is no way to help the patient. The families know their loved
one is not suffering anymore. All the pain will be gone, and they will know when the patient is
going to pass away(Messerli 3). Hospice is an organization that allows patients the comfort of
dying in their own home with their family, pain free(Position on Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia
1). Making the decision on how to end ones life is heart breaking. The family would be involved
with the patient, and make it more relaxing to the patient(Spiritual Science Research Foundation
1). Having the families know the pain is over and the families will have the day to say
goodbye(Top 10 Pros and Cons 1). Some patients would rather die to know they have become a
burden to their families. With all the medical bills, and the families taking care of the patients.
The patient can build up so much grief and stress, the pain is even more suffering. Patients would
feel guilty for choosing to live and fight(Grisez and Boyle 3).
However, Euthanasia decreases the amount of patients in a hospital, because hospitals are
being overcrowded with not enough space and doctors. Doctors can save more lives if the quality
of care would increase Doctors and nurses time would get freed up. The doctors would be
saving many more lives. There is beginning to be not enough doctors, staff, and nurses in
hospitals to take care of everyone. Without the proper care a patient needs the patient could
commit suicide. There is a difference between euthanasia and assisted suicide. Euthanasia is a
physician monitored death, while assisted suicide is a self-monitored death. If the patient was in
so much pain, and felt like they were not getting much attention, or help the need the patient
could lean more towards killing themself(Messerli 3). Only the patient knows actually how sick
they are feeling, and if they feel it right to use euthanasia they should be allowed. No one has the
right to remove the decision of suicide from anyone(Facts About Euthanasia 2). Some patients

Courtright 3
might be afraid of the thought of death. Patients in the hospital would be afraid knowing people
were dying(Grisez and Boyle 1).
Finally, Euthanasia should be legal, because it puts an end to patients pain and suffering.
Euthanasia is beneficial in many ways and should be legalized. Patients suffer all the time
because they cannot just end their lives without any pain or suffering. Euthanasia helps by giving
them a way out and not having to be in pain all day. No one should be able to tell someone that
they cannot end their lives. Only the patient knows the pain that he/she is in, and he/she should
be allowed to take their life. There are many ways euthanasia benefits the family also. It relieves
the stress that is put on them while there patient is in the hospital all day and night, by giving
them some closure. There is no law saying a patient cannot go through euthanasia, because it is
killing of the person. Patients should not have to be in a hospital dying with all kinds of tubes
and needles and pain. The patient should die with some dignity and be surrounded by the ones
who love them. Euthanasia does not hurt the patient. It is very easy to do and does not harm
anyone. It should be the patients choice. It is their life, and they know what is best for them. The
patient does not want to be drugged up every day to be in less pain. The patient wants to enjoy
their last days with their family. There are so many perks of euthanasia being legal. Euthanasia
would also cause the price of health care and all the medical bills to reduce. Euthanasia is best
for a suffering patient in pain.
