Instructional Procedures
Focusing Event: The teacher will say, When we solve problems we want them to be accurate,
but also solved as quickly as possible. The teacher will relate it to the number of the day. Then
she will tell them thats what they are going to work on: adding tens. She will then show them 2
examples of the beginning of the year assessment test they took that had those type of
questions and tell them that if they know how to add ten with different strategies that are quick,
then it will be easier to do.
Kimberly Mendoza
Closure: The teacher will return to the assessment questions used for the focusing event and
now have them solve them. She will then ask what is something that they learned about adding
