2nd Current Event:

Just recently Russia launched 26 cruise missiles off the Caspian Sea headed
for Syria. But according to U.S. Military and intelligence assets 4 of these
missiles landed in Iran. These missiles are newly created missiles known as
the Kaliber cruise Missile. Which is claimed to be a highly accurate 1,000
pound warhead, but this was just recently its very first use in combat. There
was also no warning when the missiles were launched. Although it is unclear
where exactly these missiles landed it is believed that some buildings might
have been damaged as well as some civilians might have been injured. As
well as the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told Russian president
Putin that all 26 missiles has hit their targets. But it is not clear if the missiles
he was referring to where the same ones as they might have launched other
missiles. The U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter declared Russias actions
as increasingly unprofessional behavior. As not so long ago a Russian jet
violated Turkish airspace. Carter also said "We have not and will not agree to
cooperate with Russia so long as they continue to pursue this misguided
strategy." Carter also mentions how Russian strategy in Syria has only
seemed to help the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad in his
struggle against rebel forces and less at fighting ISIS. Russias bombing in
Syria has also caused many more Syrian refugees as the area is becoming

more and more of a battle-zone as time passes by. Which is only making the
case of refuges entering European countries worse.

I feel like these Missiles cannot be claimed as highly accurate is 4 out 26

missiles did not reach their targets which is about 15%. I think that Russia
should seriously work on their new warheads more before using them in
combat as those 4 missiles could have landed in major cities and could have
caused huge amounts of cost in property as well as casualties. Russia seems
like it is simply doing what they want to. Since they are doing this as Carter
said it is leading to countries such as the U.S unwillingly to cooperate with
Russia. As the main focus of the UN is to stop ISIS and Russia seems to
making the matter worse. As many of those 26 missiles did not have ISIS
targets. Also it seems like Russia is trying to establish its power by trying to
take the whole situation in their own hands. It is still un-confirmed whether or
not 4 missiles did crash but the U.S has already declared that they will not
cooperate with Russia if they continue this misguided strategy. So I wonder if
it turns out that these 4 missiles did not crash into Iran is the United States
going to consider to cooperate with Russia. As the UN has to work together in
order to stop ISIS and all the conflicts it has created such as the refuges. I
wonder also if the missiles did crash what it will do to Russias Kaliber
missiles in terms of mass producing them or if they are going to have to
spend more money fixing them. I also wonder if these missiles simply ran
into something during their flight path that caused them to crash or if it was

a technical problem in the missile itself. As if it wasnt the missile then it

wouldnt demote on its claim as a highly accurate missile.
