Animals at Fanshawe Park! Thank you
to those parents who joined us there!

celebrate Mass as a school community.

( and we were sooooo reverent!)

The egg carton house became a castle! Please

continue sending in empty egg cartons
(dozen size)
We hope to do a Buddy Activity that requires each
child (28) to have a Clementine box.we have 10.
Please send in any that you acquire.
In Language: We continued with our Jolly Phonics and learned the letter name and
sounds of Jj. The First Years continued in their Jolly Phonics booklets while the
Second Years added labels and/or sentences to their super hero, Jumping Jack
who jails jaywalkers! Using the Mystery Name, we continued rhyming, clapping
syllables, identifying beginning and end sounds, blending consonant vowel consonant
words and identifying letter sounds and names. Our Mystery name this week was
Bennett.
We also continued our Surprise Bag Show n Share items. Bennett shared his Car
parking garage and Maria surprised us with a sunflower! Well done !
We wrote letters to Santa with our Grade 4 buddies.
We read The GingerBread Man and did several activities with it counted
syllables, matched upper and lower case letters, identified beginning, middle and
end sounds, etc
Gym: We used scarves to practice throwing and catching alone and in partners. We
followed instructions left by The Gingerbread Man to complete exercises in
stations around the gym. Whew! Good thing he rewarded us with a gingerbread
cookie at the end!

Religion: We continued our Advent celebrations. We discussed the shape of the

wreath being circular and thus never ending, like Gods love. We discussed how the
wreath is made of evergreen, as Gods love is everlasting. This week we celebrated
the theme of the first week of Advent: Hope. We hope that God will come again.
On Friday, we introduced the second purple candle and the theme of peace.
We celebrated mass at the church as a school community. Once again, we were
soooooo reverent! Awesome!
We learned the story of the Nativity. We discussed the significance of angels, and
stars.
We discussed the importance of caring for Gods creatures.
Science: We celebrated Christmas with the Animals at Fanshawe Park. Thank you
to Mr. Telewiak, Mr. Ebel, Mrs. Wastell, Mrs. Dovigi, and Mrs. Friederichsen for
joining us and helping out! The children to made pine cone bird feeders for their
own Christmas with the Animals at home.
We made crystal stars using Borax.
In Art: Miss Angenent worked with the children to decorate gingerbread Men for
our Door Decorating Contest.
In Music, Drama and Dance: Miss Angenent continues with Musical Lunches and
dance parties.
In Mathematics: We continued the 100 days of school.adding fish to our
fishbowl and straws to our collection. We counted by 1,2,5, and 10. We continued
using 5 frames to recognize different ways to get 5. We did a mini measurement
assessment (length) with each child. Pictures went home in mailbags on Monday. We
began working on Mass.
In Personal and Social Development: We worked on turn taking. With so many
exciting things to work on, some of us forgot to give others a chance. We also
talked about working as a group especially at clean up time!

In Inquiry/Directed Play: For the Jj, Miss Angenent had to children make JOLLY
snowmen. Miss Angenent worked with the children all week to make decorations for
the classroom Christmas tree. It is truly a tree of their own! Last week, Miss
Angenent had the children make Advent calendars and this week, they added the
second flame.
An Elf, Jingles , shyly made his way into the class! When a little finger accidently
touched him, he needed a Magic rescue!
