Kayla Brown, NA, is currently employed part time in a direct patient care position as a Nursing Assistant, on the Atrium East
Medical Surgical Unit here at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital in Chelsea, Michigan. I have had the pleasure of working
with Kayla since November of 2013 as her Clinical Coordinator. Kayla continues to build her patient care expertise and is a
consistently high performer. Kayla provides safe and effective patient-focused and family-centered care. She has been in
school preparing for a career as a Professional Registered Nurse.
SJM Chelsea Hospital is a 113 - bed community based, top performing acute care hospital licensed by the State of Michigan
and certified by the Federal Government, and is part of the St. Joseph Mercy Health System of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a
ministry organization of Trinity Health Care System. The seven hospitals of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System are currently

Kayla is an accomplished nursing assistant, BLS certified, and functions effectively as a preceptor for new associates.
Nursing assistant duties include care of the complex medical patient and the pre and post-operative surgical patient.
Additional duties include, personal care, VS, recording I&O, daily weights, answering call lights and prioritizing requests,
transportation, glucometer testing, bladder scans and telemetry application and troubleshooting. Other duties include
intermittent catheterization of female and male patients, discontinuing Foley catheters and intravenous catheters,
identification of patients with dysphagia and appropriate cuing of dysphagia patients during meals, monitoring patients
during NMTs and monitoring tube feedings. She has experience with Cerner Powerchart, our Electronic Health Record.
Kayla has also worked in the role of MA in the Women's Health Clinic giving her experience in the outpatient setting.
Kayla is a clinically competent NA with clear, concise communications. She has superior written and verbal communication
skills. Her customer service skills are consistent and exceptional. She functions effectively as a team member, utilizing
comprehensive critical thinking skills. She readily utilizes and provides constructive feedback. Kayla is an independent
thinker and a self-starter who clearly understands her scope of practice; she is a resourceful, creative and solution-oriented
associate recognizing best practice and embracing innovation. Kayla independently seeks out new opportunities for growth
and development and is currently in the final weeks of ADN school at Jackson Community College. Kayla has been
accepted at the University of Michigan to continue her career in achieving her BSN.
This letter is to unconditionally recommend Kayla Brown for the position of Professional Registered Nurse. Kayla has a clear
vision for her future in nursing and is following in the path of her Grandmother, also an RN.
