Many people possess

the inability to truly
escape from reality

The portrait of the father represents
someone who actually did escape from
the life he was supposed to live. He did
not care about the consequences of his
actions and left his reality behind
without ever looking back. Tom is like
his father in this but finds it hard to truly
escape.

glass menagerie is an
alternate world where
Laura can escape to
truly feel comfortable
among the glass animals
that are so much like
herself. They may be
transparent, but when
shown in the right light,
they glitter. The unicorn
is especially important
because she can relate
to its uniqueness.

When Tom wants to escape from his reality, he leaves and goes
to the movies. There he experiences Magic and adventure that he longs for, yet
feels that he will never be able to obtain because of his warehouse job and
responsibilities to his family. The movies provide an alternate habitat where he
tends to spend most of his time.

Memories cannot be suppressed;

memories are powerful.
