We will go over these rules for the first two weeks of school. If necessary, we will continue to
the following week. These are the rules that I have set in place. I will discuss with the class why these
rules are fair and if they have any comments or rules that would like to suggest. We will go over these

rules monthly, taking about 5-10 minutes of class time.

IV. Behaviors Specifically Forbidden
1. Absolutely NO BULLYING
Only positive comments towards each other (respect)
Once per week we will play games that promote respect and non bullying towards each other.
For example, a tag game where you have to say something nice about the person you tag and/or the
person who tags you. This is a quick way to get students warmed up, as well as getting them to make
friends and compliment others.

Sit in proper spot
Jump rope or warm up game that is posted
Jump until the music stops
Jump rope competitions may be added if students behave well and give good effort
Row leaders collect ropes
Everyone sits for announcements
There is no talking during announcements. If you have a question raise your hand.
Captains of the week lead exercises (Two captains will be on a rotation throughout the school
year. If a student gets 2 strikes in a class, the teacher may remove your turn as captain)
10. Students are to respect the captains as if they were the teacher during exercises
11. Student-Teacher conferences are held (during exercises) to discuss individual students behavior,
find out more about student's interests, and any questions the student may have.
12. Students are to come prepared to the meeting with any questions or ideas they may have for the
class. This will be discussed at the beginning of the school year with what to expect from the
class.
13. Class returns to spots for instruction of today's lesson
14. Class may get water and line up during last 2-3 mins of class. Girls get water on left side water
fountain, boys on the right. Line up on basketball base line and out of bounds line in front of

entrance.
15. Quietly, get on the basketball base line/out of bounds line and wait for teacher
*We will go over these procedures the first two weeks of school and perhaps longer if
necessary.

VI. Administrative Procedures
In my experience subbing as a physical education teacher, I have not had to make any lunch
counts. If I do have to take lunch counts, I will have magnets with each students name on them and
when the students come in they can slide their magnet under the name of food that they would like to
get that day. Then I will send list to cafeteria. I have had to be on bus duty, usually just the morning or
afternoon, but not both. I plan to grade papers or enter grades into the system between classes if
possible, if not, then during planning. During class, I will have my grade-book handy to make notes on
students effort and behavior. I will put aside anything that I can do during planning for that time so that
the class can run efficiently. Contacting parents will be done on planning period or other break time.

VII.

Specific Instructional Procedures:

The procedure I will use for teacher/student conferences will be to have them come over to me,
one at a time, during exercises/stretching/running that will be lead by the class leaders for that week. I
will have a meeting with the student to find out the student's feelings on the class and discover personal
interests that the student may have in health and physical education. In group activities that we will
have while learning different skills such as working on basketball passing groups, I will come around
and work with the different groups to obtain a better understanding of how each student is learning and
coming along within a smaller group.
The autistic student will be able to participate with the rest of the class in games and exercises. I
will monitor his behavior and give him extra attention when he needs it. The student that is in the wheel
chair will have another plan mapped out for him on days he cannot participate with the regular group.
He can still do his stretches and a lot of games that we will do.

Classroom Maps
For this example of my classroom, I will be using the gym. I am assuming that I am going to
have half of a gym to work with. Hopefully, I will have a barrier (curtain) between my class and the
other class(s) using the gym.
I will have jump ropes out for the row leaders to collect each class, so that when they come
into class, they will already get right to work, warming up, by jumping. They will be in their specific
spots so that I can take attendance while they jump. I will utilize a penalty box, for a specific timeout area when a student is breaking a rule. Our rules for the class will be posted on the bulletin board at
the entrance of the gym. I will have an equipment room in which I will store my items. I will have a
small desk to the side of the gym, where I can make notes/adjustments needed for the class, and also to
meet with students for conferences. I will arrange meetings with students alphabetically. The rest of the
students will be doing exercises with the class. The captains will be leading the stretches and exercises.
There will be an area along the wall for students to place their jackets and belongings as they enter the
gym. There will be another place along the wall for students who can not participate due to injury,
illness, behavior, etc. to read AR books. We will display posters promoting healthy eating choices,
exercises, and fitness gram testing info/top scorers.
