their own clearly.
Social Studies:
Standard P 5:
Students will be able to describe what a ballad is and identify rhythm if present.
Students will be able to interpret and compare and contrast a ballad using a philosophical
approach
The formative assessment will be done throughout the lesson to observe whether students
are responding to the ballad in a philosophical approach. The discussion will ensue based on the
questions they wrote in their Venn diagrams regarding the ballads. Hopefully, students
questions are concerning deeper meanings and ignite receptive discussion. Once the discussion
is finished, my co-teacher and I will explain what exactly a ballad is and its origins.
At the end of the lesson, students will be asked to answer a few questions on a google
form. This assessment will allow my co-teacher and me to see if the students have any more
questions concerning the ballads. During this assessment, students will also have the opportunity
to provide us with what they believe the ballads are about and to compare and contrast.
