Tucson Medical Center 5301 E. Grant Rd Tucson, AZ 85712 To Whom It May Concern, This letter is in response to your job opening for a registered nurse position at Tucson Medical Centers New Grad Residency Program. As a future graduate from The University of Arizona College of Nursing, I am confident that my academic knowledge and clinical expertise have well prepared me as an accomplished candidate to fulfill your nursing employment needs. Throughout my academic endeavors at The University of Arizona College of Nursing, I have received an outstanding education centered on current evidence-based practice, which I believe will further complement the caliber of nurses employed by your facility. During my senior preceptorship within an Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson, I have fine-tuned patient prioritizing, management of my time, and the application of critical thinking skills. In addition, I gained further appreciation of the value of cohesive teamwork in clinical practice. A clinical example of these skills pertains to one patient who was scheduled for an invasive procedure. I was revising the scheduled medications for this patient and came across a scheduled dose of Heparin. I immediately turned to my preceptor and expressed my doubts of giving this dose since he was scheduled for an invasive procedure. My preceptor agreed with me and decided not to proceed with the administration of Heparin. Based on this experience, I have learned to trust my nursing instincts and rely on my clinical knowledge to provide safe patient care. . An important skill I possess is my fluency in Spanish and English. Given my bilingual skills I have been able to improve health literacy and communication between Spanish-speaking patients and the health care team. I have assisted many members of the healthcare team on numerous occasions by providing interpreting assistance between social workers, physicians, and nurses and their Spanish speaking patients to ensure informed and competent health care occurs. I am very interested in pursuing a nursing career within your facility and believe my clinical skills and background will prove as valuable assets to your institution. I share your values and visions and whole heartedly embrace compassion, dedication, and integrity when providing patient care. Additionally, I have a sincere respect for the role of community outreach in healthcare. I also believe and celebrate TMCs mission, in delivering caring, personalized, and quality healthcare to patients and their families! I am highly interested in positions available in an IMC/Progressive Care Unit or Medical/Surgical Unit. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you in the near future to discuss potential employment as a registered nurse at Tucson Medical Center. You may reach me via email or at (602) 384-6403. Respectfully,
