My Commission project
Connla-Boatman music video
This is a outline of the commissioned project that my crew and me
have undertaken.
Part 1
Client:
The client of this commission is Connla. http://connlamusic.com
The Purpose
The purpose of this commission is to produce a music video for the
bands song entitled boatman as a way to promote the band.
The research
We learned about this project whenever we were filming the bands
live performance in the an culturlann. The band asks us to produce
a music video for the song boatman and give us a few examples of
what exactly they wanted the music video to look like.
The opening shot of the film the
French Lieutenants woman was
what we want to have our music
video look like, not in terms of the
period the film is based in the dark
and gloomy look of the ocean and
the sea.
Other shots include.
Titanic front of ship scene
Eyes wide shut Bed scene
mid-shot/ birds eye view shot
Riddick Desert Scene Wide
shot

The music videos main
theme is loss; its about a
widow morning the loss of
her husband who did while
out at sea. We dont want to
make the music video a
romance as it was a very sad
song in tone and wouldnt
suit well with a romance story. The scenes we have in mind
include a scene involving the boatman taking his ship out to
sea and never returning, a scene with his wife lying in bed still
morning the loss of her husband and a scene in which the
widow walks along the beach looking out to sea.
The target audience:
The main target audience will be those who are interested in the
band connla and those into traditional Irish music. The main aim of
this music video after all is to promote the band in the hope that
their fan base will increase.
The crew
We have two separate crews working on different scenes in the
music video.
The first crew are responsible for filming the boatman scenes on the
beach; the location was inch island pier.
Director: Christopher ONeill
Cameraman/locations safety officer: Ryan murphy
Actor: Ciaran McElhinney
The second crew are responsible for filming the bedroom and beach
scenes; their location was Moresse farm on inch island and inch
island beach.

Director: Natasha curry

Cameraman: Christopher ONeill
2nd cameraman/lighting: Ciaran McElhinney
Actress- Stacy Fitzpatrick

Drone
We are fortunate enough to know someone who owned a drone and
was nice enough to offer to help us get Ariel shots from above of
beach; he also offered to get us some shots from different parts of
the ocean.
The overall Production managers are Conor Glynn and Faustina
Starrett.

The Purpose

NDY2 Creative Media Production

Unit 4:Creative media Production Management

The documentary will be based on the band connla. Thus
documentary is to promote the up and coming ban. We will do this
by interviewing them about past, present and hopes for the future.
We will look deep into their passion for music and what motivates
them.
The research
Besides from the interviews, we are also looking into archive
footage and photos that will help give the audience an insight into
the peoples lives and why they chose this as a career, things such
as music awards won or live performances will be used.
The proposal
We intend to bring the bad into the studio where they can
perform and answer questions. Questions like who did the
band members meet and inspirations behind their song will be
asked. We will edit their interviews in between footage of live
performances and photos of the band members past.
The target audience
There music video and documentary will both have the same
target audience, hopefully the documentary will also increase
the fan base of Connla.
The crew
The crew working on the documentary will b the same as the one
working on the music video.
