Western Hemisphere. 6-G2.1.1 Describe landform features and the climate of
the region (within the Western or Eastern Hemispheres) under study.

Materials:

Pencil
Geographic Dictionary W/S
Playdough
Cardboard
Laminated landform example handout

Assessment: The students will turn in the assignments at the end of

the hour. After this I will ask them questions about the different landforms
they created.

Lesson Objectives: Students will be able to define, give an example

for, draw a picture, make landform out of playdough, and be able to locate
an example on a map.

Anticipatory Set: Good Morning class today, if you guys are able to
handle it, we will be creating different landforms out of playdough. This will
happen only after you define, give an example, draw a picture, and locate an
example in the western hemisphere. This can be a very fun lesson and I am
looking forward to seeing how well you guys are going to do.

Instructional Input: Prior to this lesson students are given a

geoterms W/S which they had to define many of the terms we are going to
learn about in this lesson. They will have this W/S to look at as we go as well.

Guided Practice: Students will have a laminated landform sheet that

has picture examples for each word we are going to do on the front, and
definitions on the back. I will give them a word to look for and for the first
one we will all make sure we are on the same page before we move on to the
next one. The students who understand what they have to do right away will
have more time to play with playdough.

Independent Practice: As soon as everyone understands what is

expected of them I will give them a word then give them 5 minutes to
complete the questions on the worksheet. After this they will have the rest of
the time to play with playdough.

Closure: After they have turned in the worksheets I will do a quick oral
review with them and draw sticks to randomly select students to tell me
what the landform I ask for looks like.

Multiple Intelligences/Learning Styles:

Bodilykinesthetic: Students are playing with playdough and physically
making the landforms.
Verballinguistic- The students are expected to talk with me and give me
answers as I ask throughout the first part of the assignment.
Interpersonal- The students will be working with me and the other students
and talking to both to make sure they are following along and understanding
what to do.
