Time
I will first activate prior knowledge by going over how we located land and
water features in previous lessons. Watch the video at this link first
http://www.teachertube.com/video/positional-words-209697 I will start
describing how the students are sitting near me. (Kayla is on the left side of
me; Kyle is on the right side.) This will get the students thinking about how to
describe things referring to a location.
I will give each student a paper with 5 different things in the room to locate
and describe two objects near that object using the words near/far, left/right,
and above/beneath. The students will do this individually.
The students will get in pairs to discuss what they put when describing where
the object was. Together they will be able to see that there are multiple ways
to describe somethings location. I would walk around to see what the students
put and to make sure they all understand. (CFU) I would ask a few of the
students to share with the class what they put and if their partner put
something different to describe the objects locations.
The students would then have an assignment to take home where they
describe where three things are in their houses. The students have to use the
words near/far, left/right, above/beneath.
5. Evaluate
Assessment Methods of
all objectives/skills
The following day we would go over the worksheets and see what some of the
students described in their houses.

words near/far, left/right, or above/beneath.
