Name: Geoff Waugh

School: TBA
Practicum Dates: TBA
Teacher Associate: TBA
University Consultant: Bob Miller
#1. Goal: To increase student engagement and project to a variety of learning styles
through the incorporation of at least three different teaching strategies in each lesson.
Rationale: I want to learn more about incorporating multiple teaching strategies in each lesson
because I understand there are many different forms of learning, and the frustration that
coincides with trying to learn something being taught in an ineffective manner. Providing a
lesson plan that incorporates a variety of teaching methods can help students feel included and
help them engage within the class.
KSAs: #1, #5, #9, and #13
Strategies:
I will outline each strategy within my lesson plan to ensure there is a minimum of three
unique teaching strategies selected.
I will research effective strategies commonly used for particular lessons and how to
incorporate them within the lesson.
To ensure balance and variety, in addition to a unit overview, I will incorporate a chart to
outline which strategies have been used.
I will reflect and assess how well I was able to integrate the different methods into the
lesson plan, as well as how effective I was at teaching through the strategy, in addition to
how well the students could grasp the topic and engage within class discussion through
the use of various strategies.
Indicators of Success:
A minimum of three teaching strategies outlined in each lesson plan
A balanced strategy chart
Feedback from T.A and University Consultant
Students were engaged and understood the concepts

#2. Goal: To connect multiple lesson plans together, effectively directing students learning
of a concept or topic over a period of time.
Rationale: Many topics in class cannot be covered in a single lesson, thus providing interesting
and engaging lessons through a measured period of time is essential. The ability to continuously
learn a topic and build upon it through several lessons is fundamental for students as they
progress through the grades and spend more time on larger concepts.
KSAs: #4, #6, and #9

Strategies:
Understanding the goals and requirements outlined for the topic is necessary when
creating a lesson. Having the final outcome in mind, and working backwards when
designing lesson plans ensures all steps are included.
I will research and prepare in regards to how other teachers (especially my TA) presented
the material in an effective manner. Learning from those who have previously
experienced providing the lesson plans throughout the course can inform me of positives
and negatives within their experience.
I will incorporate entrance slips at the beginning of class, allowing students to quickly
review the material in a fun and creative way to familiarize themselves with the topic. At
the end of class I will engage the students in critically thinking about what they have
learned during the lesson and possibly providing an exit slip.
Providing creative outlets for students to engage themselves within the lesson, such as
field trips, presentations, experiments, etc
Indicators of Success:
Students doing research on their own, asking questions, and coming to class curious
about what they will learn about, getting themselves involved, engaging in discussion and
understanding the concepts.
A prepared lesson plan for each class in the topic, outlining the goals intended for the
lesson, and overall topic.
Reflecting on what other professionals have experienced and incorporating that
knowledge when designing the lesson plans.
Students making connections between classes on the topic content, relating information
to other topics, in addition to participation in presentations, field trips, experiments, etc.

#3. Goal: To design and incorporate lesson plans that effectively adopts the general
learning outcomes (GLOs) and specific learning outcomes (SLOs) to improve class
management and efficiency.
Rationale: Consistency in all aspects is important within any class, especially consistency on my
behalf. When regarding the curriculum, and what other colleagues in similar positions are
providing, I want to feel confident with my lesson plans knowing they incorporate goals and
outcomes prepared for my class. Understanding that lessons prepared have the required
outcomes necessary provides competence when adding individual creativity to the lesson.
KSAs: #2, #3, #6, #9, and #11
Strategies:
I will have all GLOs and SLOs for the particular content outlined in my lesson plans.
I will familiarize myself with the curriculum for the content I am instructing.
I will discuss my lesson plans with my TA and UC, and reflect and improve upon the
feedback given. I will be open minded to any kind of developmental feedback.

I will know the content in which I am teaching, thus if there needs to be a shift within the
classroom, I will be prepared.

Indicators of Success:
Having the appropriate GLOs and SLOs for the topic outlined in my lesson plan.
Being complimented for appropriate, professional planning and accommodation of the
GLOs and SLOs from my TA and UC.
Students are being attentive and respectful, knowing there is an objective I am there to
help them attain.
Feeling confident and prepared with the lesson plan constructed, and being able to reflect
on what went well, and what could use improvement.
Reflection:
PS II Goals:
1. To set clear expectations, rules, and procedures from the very beginning and maintaining them
consistently and fairly throughout the semester.
2. To effectively include all students, regardless of ability, in each lesson
3. To increase the variety of assessments used in my classroom and to improve the criteria and
objectiveness of those assessments.
