Power transmission sector in India is poised for robust growth and large investment is
planned for construction of transmission system for bringing power from surplus
regions to deficit ones and also meeting power evacuation needs of renewable and
fossil plants.
In order to leverage the opportunities and position ourselves as competitive player in
the market, it is essential to integrate all our allied units under one umbrella and
derive the advantages of synergy in work, sharing of skilled and trained resources and
providing carrier growth to employees.
Tata Power has always strived to provide reliable and uninterrupted power to the city
of Mumbai. As part of these efforts, several schemes to bring additional power to the
city have been conceptualized and are under different stages of implementation.
One of such schemes planned is to connect the Mumbai transmission system to the rest.
of the state of Maharashtra at 400 KV for the first time at Vikhroli. A separate
dedicated 400 KV Vikhroli project team was formed in 2012 to examine execution
feasibility and obtain necessary statutory approvals. The objectives with which the
team were formed are now fulfilled to a large extent. The execution work will be
taken upon receipt of final clearances from the STU / MERC / High Court etc and after
receiving the balance statutory approvals.
In view of the above, it is now proposed to integrate the 400 KV Vikhroli project team
members into the existing Transmission Projects division. This will enable proper and
optimum planning of resources in project execution. It will also give greater
opportunities and help in better career planning of the combined team. Therefore,
Mr. P Murugan, Head - 400 KV Vikhroli Project will report to Mr. Aditya Gupta, Chief -
Transmission Projects. Mr. Aditya Gupta will continue to report to Mr. Ramachandran
Pillai, Chief - Operations, Transmission and Distribution.
The above change will take place with immediate effect.
