Students will be able to do research using Internet and book sources on

a specific animal and its habitat.
Students will be able to understand how different animals depend on
their habitats and why it is important to keep these habitats in
existence.
Students will be able to create a comic strip explaining how/why that
animal depends on its habitat.
Assessme Students will present their comic strips to the rest of the class individually.

Students listening to the presentations must then fill in a worksheet stating
the animal they just learned about, what its habitat is and one thing they
learned as to why that animal depends on that habitat.
Materials: Books, Computers, projectors, Knowledge, and creativity!
Anticipat

Start lesson with a question, ask students what types of things they depend
on in their every day lives. After they start thinking about this I will explain

on that animal and its habitat.

They will be able to understand
how that animal depends on its
habitat.
Students will create rough
drafts of how they will integrate
what they have learned into a
comic strip explaining their
research.
Students will create final drafts
Students will present their
comics to the rest of the class
Students will take notes on
presentations and turn them in
for credit

students who have difficulty

conducting their research.

I will conference with students

to make sure they are on the
right track and help make any
corrections that need to be
made.

I will grade each presentation as

it is being presented as well as
a copy that will be turned in

Students will also get graded on

notes taken from their
classmates presentations.

Higher level students: these students will be expected to pick more

difficult animals. For example I can help them choose animals that are
not widely known that would be more difficult to research.
Students with disabilities: I will make my help much more available to
these students as well and conference with them multiple times to
make sure they understand and complete everything correctly. I could
provide these students with semi -developed comics to get them
started and on the right track.
Students will asses themselves in a self evaluation, they will also be able to
view their peers notes to understand if their information was clear to the rest
of their classmates.
