Transitions Curriculum: Where Does My Money Go?
Transition Area:
-Employment
Format:
-Where Does My Money Go is a board game format. It comes with
Levels 1 & 2.
-This game has shown to be helpful in inclusion settings with
elementary students.
-Level I teaches basic money counting and shopping skills.
-Level II was made for students who proved to have mastered level I. It
includes a more challenging aspect by incorporating pennies, nickels,

Learning characteristics of the student for whom this
curriculum would be age appropriate:
-In this curriculum, students will need to know basic math functions
(addition, subtraction, possibly multiplication). The two Levels are
meant for students in elementary school (dependent on if Level I or
Level II is chosen. The students will need to have the ability to make
decisions independently of whether or not they would like to purchase
something and if they have the correct amount of money to purchase
something. This curriculum would be good for students whom have a
learning disability and are in middle school.
Where Does My Money Go addresses the following transition
needs:
-Students will learn counting skills and money-handling skills.
-The game will teach the students how to make physical transactions
for goods or services.
-They will learn employment skills that include money handling and
hands on daily transactions.
-This teaches students basic mathematics and communication skills.
Other features of Where Does My Money Go:
-This helps teach students how to manage their money and different
aspects to look at when they want to spend money. For example: A

person who gets offered to buy milk and is allergic to milk would
decline milk. Or if a person gets offered to buy a basketball and the
student loves sports they would accept to buy the basketball.
