[Title] Stand Strong in Your Faith

[Kicker] The world in which we live makes us face several challenges and temptations. How can
we have the courage to stand strong?
[Highlights of the source article]
There has never been a time like ours today. Moral values are ridiculed, sin is applauded, and
temptations are disguised as valuable experiences. Many believe that being a Christian means
being closed-minded and judgmental toward others.
Because this is our reality, its hard to go against the flow. It can be even harder when people
accuse us for being different.
How can we live in such a world and still be the faithful people God wants us to be?
President Thomas S. Monson [https://www.lds.org/church/leader/thomas-s-monson?lang=eng]
addresses this topic in Be Strong and of Good Courage, [https://www.lds.org/generalconference/2014/04/be-strong-and-of-a-good-courage?lang=eng] given at the April 2014 general
conference. He says we should have courage to say no, even when everyone is saying yes. He
encourages us to do the right thing, even when the right thing is unpopular.
Each of us deals with circumstances that are different from those of others. Some of us may be
the only religious person at school or work; some of us may be surrounded by people who are
making the wrong decisions. But President Monson says, .As the trend in society today is
rapidly moving away from the values and principles the Lord has given us, we will almost
certainly be called upon to defend that which we believe. Will we have the courage to do so?
