While researching Egan Construction I learned that they are a little different from
Blattner Energy. While Blattner has few tabs to click on and talk about their company Egan has
links to different pages all over that are whiling to share more information about the company.
They are also all about safely, they first thing on the website is that they were recognized for
being one of the safest companies in America. So for my application materials I will talk a lot
about what they have done in the past and how safety is a key role in being in the construction
industry. Also while I was talking to someone from Blattner they were looking for someone that
does know some sort of general knowledge of working in the field. So in my resume I will
include all of my general knowledge and past experiences about construction. Where Egan For
my internship I would be put to work in the office so when communicating with them I would
talk about the classes that I have taken and the types of documents I have learned to use.

Company History:
Blattner Energy Was founded by David Henry.
It was originally called D.H. Blattner & Co.
Railway Contractors. When established they
have worked on heavy civil, mining, and
railroad construction. In 2008 Blattner Energy
was established to build the energy portfolio
that D.H. Blattner & Co. had already
established. Blattner Energy is now mainly
focused on energy while D.H. Blattner &Co.
works on all other branches of construction.
Business Objective: The objective is to succeed and add value to the project lifestyle, whether
its saving money, enhancing technology, or overcoming challenges that at first looked as if they
were impossible. Their primarily goals are to focus on the finish line of the project(s) that they
are working on and have it completed by the date set for it to be finished. Another main goal of
theirs is to make sure that their employees are satisfied with their work. This is why I would love
to work here. They really take care of their employees by making the work area positive, they
have good managers, and they provide great benefits to keep their employees healthy.
Brief Description of Position: The position that I would be taking over would require me to
give my input on many subject in order to make sure the job runs smoothly. I will be in charge
of the full construction process a high voltage electrical system. I will assist electrical
superintendents. I am responsible for installation guidance, QA/QC enforcement, scheduling
support, and client correspondence. I will also help keep the work zone safe and productive
while producing quality work at controlled costs. Thats only a few things that I will be helping
out will. After contacting Blattner I learned that 50% of the time I will be in the office working
on paper work and the other 50% of the time I will be working hands on in the field.
Introductory Narrative: In the past three years I have been working general labor, nothing big
but big enough to get me interested. So now Im ready to get into the larger field of construction
and start working with my degree. Our instructors are telling us that we wont know ow what our
field is like until we work in it. Right now I am more interested in finding an internship because
it will be more beneficial to me. I would like to use the information that I am learning in class if
actual scenarios instead of just for homework assignments. I thought that Blattner would be a
great place to apply to because of how well they treat their employees and respect them. Which I
think is important because with my past experience I am not like that average Joe I have valuable
skills that I can present to the company.
Sources of Revenue: Blattner Energy has received there source of revenue from the projects that
they complete. Since Blattner Energy is a construction firm their only form of revenue is from
the physical labor that they put into a project.

President: Doug Olson: Doug is the Current president of Blattner energy. He has been the
president now for 13 years and has really made Blattner Energy into the Great name that it is
today. Doug is a very loyal man according to his social media and business accounts he is very
faithful to his family and work. Those are his main activities in life.
Vice President: Doug Fredrickson: Doug has been working with Blattner ever since he graduated
from Bemidji State University. His work consists of helping other leaders of the corporation
keep the good name of the company and also improve it to the best of their ability.
Project Director: Stephen Jones: Mr. Jones is very committed to his work. He has been working
in the energy field for the past 20 years. He has worked up the ladder for 15 years now and has
achieved to earn a corporate leadership position. According to social media he enjoys working
and Blattner and he spends a lot of time on his work to make sure he is making it the best that he
can.
Core Values: Blattner Energy believes that it is very important to keep their employees happy.
They believe that their clients are happy when the people working for them love working for
their own companies.
Public vs. Actual Persona: After much research Ive learned that the public and actual persona
is pretty close to each other. Blattner Energy is a very professional company, to the point where I
can hardly find any information about their highest ranking employees. Even on Facebook other
companies and individuals are more willing to talk about them then they are of themselves.
Communication Styles: Blattner Energy if focus on being a very formal and professional
business. They are trying to gain the respect from their customers so that they can trust that they
can get their jobs completely correctly.
Business Objective: Egans objective it to have a team that is compatible of any task that is put
in front of them is the safest possible way. Egan Co. is well known down in the cities for their
good and efficient work in construction. I would love to work for Egan Co. because there is a lot
of great information that they could share with me to improve my knowledge and experience in
construction.
Brief Description of Position: While working at Egan I would work as an assistant project
manager for multiply project managers. To assist them I would be working on a lot of the paper
work that normal project managers would be doing. I will learn to foresee events so that I can fix
the problem before it becomes too big. Depending on my performance it will determine if I will
receive a job after I finish the internship.
Introductory Narrative: Ive learned how to do most of the paper work in my classes. But I
have never used these skills in a real life scenario. Hopefully I can work my way up and become
a heap project manager. If I were able to work at Egan Co. I would get the opportunity to learn
lots of new information and gain plenty on useful skills. Egan Co. is known for their efficient
work ethic down in the cities.
Sources of Revenue: Egan receives their source of revenue the same way as Blattner Energy.
The make it from any jobs that they are working on or have work with.

President and CEO: Jim Malecha: Jim has been with Egan for 16 years and in 2008 he was
named president of the company.
Chief Operating Officer: Duane Hendricks: Duane has been with this company for almost 30
years. According to LinkedIn Duane is also the Executive Vice President.
Executive Vice President: Jim Paul, P.E.: Jim his been in the construction industry for 25 years.
In 2010 he was given the Executive Vice President position at Egan Company.
Core Values: The most important value to Egan is that everyone is safe. Egan is also constantly
volunteering their time to help many organizations. I believe that they are trying to show their
employees what is expected of them if they work here.
Public vs. Actual Persona: Egan Company has a very professional website where is looks like
they are really into just business. But once you start looking them on Facebook they look like
they are more relaxed. They like to focus on family. It looks as if they have a few family events
in the past summer. They like to hang out with other coworkers and have a good time. So from
what the website looks like from how Facebook presents them there is a little bit of a difference.
Communication Styles: There is a lot of information on their website about their company.
They are very open about everything they do and want people to know that they do good work.
They also have a 24/7 phone number so in case there is anything that you have a question about
you can have the answer to it within no time. I also get a feeling that they like to talk about
everything they have accomplished.
