text and pictures, pencils, notebooks, chart

Teachers and paraprofessionals will assess


student understanding by listening to their
verbal retell and checking for accuracy.
Students notebooks will also be looked out to
assess whether they were able to complete
sentence.

Students will break into pairs for speaking


and writing activity.

The Frozen read aloud has proven to


engage students in the past. This will give
them an opportunity to enjoy the read aloud
and practice identifying when characters are
being nice/mean to each other.
Lesson will begin in the meeting area with
read aloud of Frozen. Teacher will model
beginning part of book and say Anna just
played with Elsa in the snow and she is
smiling, so she is being nice. Teacher will
write sentence on chart. Students will go into
pairs with paraprofessional or teacher and
retell one part of story where character is
being nice or mean to another character.
They will be guided to write this part in one
sentence in notebook.
