Our first major assignment was Who You Are as a Writer?

In this assignment, we
were to analyze our writing process and find out the steps we make when writing. I was
able to understand the cause of my writers block and the other writing anxieties.
The purpose of the assignment was to reflect on the situations that shaped the way
I developed as a writer and my attitude towards writing. Unfortunately, the situations that
I have endured negatively effected the way I write. I personally feel that I achieved the
purpose of the assignment. The writing process in which I used for this assignment
helped my writing. I realized that my writing process is developed on how well I
understood the task given. The information that I have learned after completing the
assignment will effect the way I write. This will help me clearly state the purpose and
fully expand on my thoughts, making me an effective communicator and writer.
At first I found the assignment to be difficult and I could not fully elaborate on
my writing method. In between my drafts, I had to add more detail about my writing
process which helped me to later fully understand and analyze it. I also reworded some of
my sentences so I could fully state my thoughts and purpose.
Before starting the assignment, we had to read Mike Roses Rigid Rules,
Inflexible Plans, and the Stifling of Language. This article focuses on writers block and
the strict process that may cause it. This article helped me understand why I was getting
writers block.
After completing this assignment I will use what I learned to create effective
papers and understand the writing of others as we go deeper into writing composition.
This will also help with the different writings we will be assigned. This observation of

my writing process will help me as a writer and communicator as I advance in my writing

skills.
