Vacuum line

Turning on vacuum:
1. Check there is no liquid inside the solvent trap, and shut all valves;
2. Fill the Dewar full with dry ice;
3. Connect pump to power;
4. Once area is under vacuum, open valve A;
5. After area is under vacuum, open the valve connected to your sample.
If there are samples already connected to the vacuum:
1. Shut the valve that is connected;
2. Connect your sample to the vacuum line (C1-C4);
3. Open your valve;
4. After the system is stable, open the former valve.
Removing a sample from the vacuum:
1. Shut any other valves that are connected, leaving yours open;
2. Shut valve A, and open valve B, adjusting area to atmospheric pressure;
3. Disconnect the finished sample and close the valve used;
4. Shut valve B, and open valve A;
5. After area is under vacuum, open any valves to samples that are still connected.
Turning off vacuum:
1. Shut valve A;
2. Disconnect the pump;
3. Open valve B, adjusting to atmospheric pressure;
4. Open valve A.
Note:
1. Do not close the valves too tight, which will wear out the rubber ring. Just make sure it is
shut, and thats enough.
2. When vacuum line is in use, ensure there is dry ice enough in the Dewar;
3. After use, remove the Dewar, clean cold trap.
