Answer two out of six essay questions


1. What are the complexities and challenges facing
managers in non-union organisations?
2. Critically evaluate the prospect of a global market
shaping global technologies and global products with
an increasing homogenisation of cultures. To what
extent are MNCs able to standardize their HRM
practices globally?
3. Compare and contrast theory that suggests that
leadership can be taught, with theory that implies that
it is innate. Also critically review literature that implies
that women lead in a different way to men.
Your group will select a topic from the course schedule
(Leadership) and you will be required to plan, design and
deliver a scholarly presentation.
4. To what extent do you agree with Ralph Stogdill (1948)
that, a person does not become a leader by virtue of
the possession of some combination of traits? Draw on
a range of competing and complementary perspectives
and debates to support your answer.
