Semi Final

The Kellyville squad enjoyed one of their games of

the season in the Champions of Champions Quarter
Final. Playing against the 2010 Champions and 2011
Runners Up, the Kolts brought their A game to defeat
Brookvale 7-0 at Ray Marshall Reserve, Granville.
With quality opposition the Kolts were primed to begin
quickly (Vlad, firing up the boys with some motivational
words!). The player movement and quick passing soon had
Brookvale under pressure. The Kolts defended as a team high
up the park looking at every opportunity to squash the ball
playing of Brookvale - this was a game winning move.
The sharp starts that teams struggled with during the
season had Brookvale gasping for air and chasing shadows. Just
after the ten minute mark the Kolts were rewarded with the
opening goal. Vic received the ball 35 yards out, turned and
dribbled, then released an absolute cracking shot that curled
up, over and around the keeper to knock the spiders out of
the top right corner of the goals - SENSATIONAL!!!!
Brookvale fought back hard, but Kellyville stood firm with
Dame, Fewelly, Noons and Thommo commanding the
backline. The ability of the boys to snu out attacks before
they even got started demoralised Brooky and kept the
pressure right on them.
The next 30 minutes was high quality football from both
sides, and required a dedicated eort from everybody. The
heat and big park worked in the Kolts favour as this set up the
second half capitulation - the Kolts were working to get the
rewards later in the match. Jaime, Alex, Harry and Trev being
helped by the runs from the back from Thommo and Noons
and the options presented up front from Naya, Vic and Doz.
The big four at the back all made telling challenges to clear
from corners and Brookvale attacks.
Five minutes from the break, and pressure from the Kolts
front line saw Doz force an error on the Brookvale side of
halfway - the ball bouncing to the left between Naya and the
Brooky keeper. Naya won the race to the ball, turned away to
the sideline and halfway line, making room to turn back
towards goal. He then produced an amazing finish from close
to 40 yards as he drove a chip at goal - measured to perfection!
GOAL!

Halftime saw a hard earned 2-0 lead, that had to be backed

up with a solid second half. The opening minutes of the
second half were all Kolts, but one counter attack from
Brooky saw the ref award a very soft penalty that surprised
Brookvale as well as Kellyville. SHOTSTOPPER Nolan was
not to be beaten though and again demonstrated he is an
outstanding penalty stopper - diving to his right to palm away
a good eort. This started the drop in the Brooky heads....
.....and the goal minutes later completed it! Doriano
turning defenders inside and out had heads spinning. He then
produced a goal of the highest quality, as on the run he
nonchalantly chipped the keeper and made jaws drop around
the ground.....Brooky heads quickly following them down!
At this stage Brookvale had to push forward and the Kolts
were ready to punish them for doing so....
Vic grabbed a second after the Kolts attacked in numbers
down the right, the cross coming o the crossbar, being
bounced back into the centre and Vic applying the chest to
finsh from 30cm out!
Doz then carved them again, turning players inside out in
the box....his first shot saved, then the follow up which was
saved on the line, unfortunately for Brookvale it wasnt the
keeper that saved it - penalty! With Alex o for a rest, the
ensuing wrestle for the pen was funny as literally Doz and Vic
cuddled with the ball between them!!! Vic won the day, as he
was on a hat trick - he duly converted.
Doz grabbed another after being played in by a quality ball
threaded through by Stoney. Doz producing a superb stepover
dummy that left the sweeper out of play and Doz one on one
with the keeper, he then rounded the keeper and finished
from near the byline - SUPERB!
The final goal was a fitting team goal to wrap it up.
Defending a corner with all the Kolts back in the box bar Vic
and Bunny, Nolan picked up possession and threw out to Vic
on the right. Vic drew the defenders across and switched to
Trev running up the left, Bunny crossed over to the left,
dragging a defender, Trev played to Rich who had run the
length to the right, Rich then played to the far post to Bunnys
feet, who finished o the length of the field move -NICE!
