Supersedes Bulletin #8461 dated 9/27/13. Revised to clarify procedures for e and non-e models.

Follow the procedures outlined below if it is necessary to replace the MFPB and the PRCB in these models.
These steps supersede those in the original service manuals.
IMPORTANT

Do not replace the MFPB or the PRCB with a board taken from another machine, and do not
replace both boards at the same time. Doing so will cause corruption of stored data.

Update the firmware to the latest level only after completing all other steps.

HOW TO REPLACE THE MFPB (non-e models only)

1. Turn OFF the machine and unplug it. Remove the covers necessary to obtain access to the MFPB.
2. Replace the MFPB; then turn the machine ON.
3. Initialize the new MFPB.
a. Insert a USB stick with the latest firmware loaded on the root. Do not update the firmware at this time.
b. In the lower right-hand corner, select Machine Type Select.
c. Enter the [Machine] and [Type]. Then touch [Fix].
Refer to the appropriate service manual to obtain the correct Machine and Type codes.
Note: Entering the incorrect Machine or Type will result in code C9401.
4. Turn the machine OFF and remove the USB stick; then, turn the machine ON. The following sequence will
occur.
a. Code C-D390 will appear with Japanese text.
b. The machine will reboot automatically. This will occur two times.
c. After the 2nd reboot, the code C-D390 will appear with English text and a Recover Data button. It may
take up to 5 minutes before the English text appears.
5. When Recover Data appears, restore the backup data following the instructions on the control panel to
restore the backup data.
