Junkyard Ramp reflection

Yesterday, in senior capstone, we started our first group project, the junk yard ramp
competition in which we practiced teamwork skills by grouping up and building a melon ramp
out of various things in a set amount of time by collaborating with our teammates.
I feel that my group did very well working together to come up with ideas by
brainstorming and working evenly among the group. Even though we are not all familiar with
each other we got right to it and worked out our ideas without incident. Personally I think this
was a good team exercise though it was not without issues. The fairness is not even between
groups because we did not have access to the same materials as other groups so some may of
had better tools than others. A solution to this may be a set list of each group's materials to work
with so there are no unfair advantages.
Though there were some variables between groups I feel the outcome of this project as
a whole was a success. The team based projects are a solid way to build people skills along
with problem solving abilities. The junkyard ramp project was a positive start to my senior
capstone course and gives me a better understanding of the team based learning we are going
to exercise throughout the year.
